Ghanaian champions FC Samartex 1996 will play as guests to Cameroonian side Victoria United in their first ever CAF Champions League game on Sunday, August 18, at the Japoma Stadium in Douala.
The Timber Giants will be making their first ever continental appearance and earned the prestigious spot after winning the Ghana Premier League in the 2023/24 football season.
The team ever since have been putting in proper measures in place to really warm themselves very well for the continental challenge having made some additions to replace their few out-gone players so far.
Preparations has been good for coach Nurudeen Amadu and his lads who achieved the 'host and win' in the Nsenkyire Cup last week and also played out a goalless draw against against Togolese side ASKO Kara in an international friendly in Lome- signifying how prepared they are for the big game.
Victoria United, on the other hand, also have an interesting history and will also be making their debut in the biggest club competition on the continent.
The 'One People One Power' outfit got relegated from the Cameroonian top-flight in 2004 and returned after nineteen years in 2023 and surprisingly went all the way to win the Elite One Championship last season.
