Asante Kotoko legend Malik Jabir has offered valuable advice to Medeama, the Ghana Premier League champions, ahead of their CAF Champions League clash against Al Ahly.

Scheduled for Saturday, November 25, in Cairo, this marks Medeama's debut in the group stage of the competition.

Having observed Medeama's performance during their recent league match against Kotoko, Jabir emphasized the importance of utilizing individual strengths, particularly their physical prowess. He specifically advised them to consider taking shots from outside the box, noting that their opponents, Al Ahly, might be vulnerable to such strategies.

“Honestly, individually they are physically strong. I will advise them to shoot from outside the box. They had more pace than our boys but they were not shooting.

Jabir also touched on the need for players to be aware of their actions on the field, suggesting that some might benefit from referee courses to better understand the game from an officiating perspective. Additionally, he cautioned against confrontations with referees, stressing the potential consequences, especially in the African football context.

In concluding his counsel, Jabir urged Medeama players to exercise caution and refrain from challenging referees, emphasizing the importance of allowing officials to carry out their roles without interference.

“Which players have taken up referee courses? They cannot challenge any referee. They will be spared here but they will suffer if they take this to Africa. They shouldn’t go around any referee. He won’t allow them. He will get some of them out. They should take time. They should leave the referee to perform his role. That’s my advice."

These insights aim to prepare Medeama for the unique challenges they may face in the CAF Champions League, emphasizing a strategic and disciplined approach in their upcoming continental campaign.
