The Confederation of African Football has turned down Asante Kotoko’s request to use the Baba Yara Stadium for their next home game in the CAF Confederation stating it isn’t in the best of state and shape. 

The Porcupine Warriors were unable to use the edifice in Kumasi for their first qualifying round game against Nigerian fold Kwara United but managed to advance to the next round with a 5-3 on aggregate victory. 

However, after getting optimistic of returning to their favourite grounds for the game against Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club on October 19, the CAF inspection team conducted a test on the venue and have rejected it stating it doesn’t mean the standard as it still lacks some requirements 

Official statement from Asante Kotoko’s reads; 

“Management regrettably announces that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has declined the approval of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium to host Asante Kotoko’s CAF. 

“Confederation Cup clash against Wydad Athletic Club of Morocco.
As a result, the club will now play its crucial first leg tie at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, October 19, 2025, with kick-off scheduled for 3:00 pm.

“Further details of the match will be communicated soon.”

Asante Kotoko after a crucial 2-0 win over Bibiani GoldStars will be highly motivated a heading in against Nations FC this weekend at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex.
