The joint bid presented by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania has emerged as the host for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), according to an announcement made by the Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in Cairo, Egypt today.
Senegal, Botswana, and Egypt were initially in contention to host the 2027 AFCON, while Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania jointly bid for the tournament.
Additionally, the committee revealed that Morocco has been selected as the host for the 2025 AFCON.
CAF President Patrice Motsepe expressed his excitement about the future of African football and suggested that an African nation would soon triumph in the World Cup.
