The return legs of the third round of African qualifiers for the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup Dominican Republic 2024™ officially kick off on Wednesday, 15 May as the race towards the fourth and final round commences for the remaining African sides vying for the three places reserved for Africa at the global showpiece.

The FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup is set to take place between 10 October and 03 November 2024, with African teams eager to emulate the impressive performances of the senior African women’s national teams at the recent FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The return legs of the third round will see the twelve teams aim for a place in the six spots of the fourth and final round, where they will then contest the three places reserved for Africa.

The first leg produced high scoring results with Burundi, Zambia, Morocco, and Senegal putting their best foot forward.

Burundi’s 18-0 victory sees Djibouti facing a near impossible task of reversing the loss while Morocco’s 4-0 over Algeria puts them in a comfortable position ahead of the return leg.

An interesting tie is on the cards between Burkina Faso and Nigeria who played out to a 1-1 draw in the first leg, while Zambia managed a 2-0 victory over Uganda who will be determined to overturn the result at home.

Senegal are also in the driving seat following their 3-1 victory over Liberia.
