The Black Stars of Ghana concluded their campaign in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament with a disappointing 18th-place finish in the final standings.

Despite being among the 24 participating teams and harboring hopes of clinching their fifth AFCON title, Ghana's journey came to an abrupt end at the group phase.

In Group B, Ghana managed to secure just two points, finishing third in the standings. Their campaign began with a 1-2 defeat to Cape Verde, followed by consecutive 2-2 draws against Egypt and Mozambique.

Throughout the tournament, Ghana netted five goals but conceded six, with two late goals conceded to Mozambique proving costly and contributing to their early exit.

This premature elimination marks Ghana's second consecutive group phase exit in the AFCON competition.

In the final standings, Ivory Coast, who secured their third AFCON title, claimed the top spot. Meanwhile, Nigeria, South Africa, and DR Congo finished second, third, and fourth, respectively, in the tournament standings.
