Ghana is set to play a pre-AFCON friendly against Namibia at the Baba Yara Stadium on Monday, January 8, 2024.

This match will serve as a crucial warm-up for Chris Hughton's side as they prepare for the continental spectacle in Ivory Coast, scheduled from January 13 to February 11, 2024.

Originally planning a training camp in Johannesburg and a friendly against Botswana, Ghana's initial proposal faced public backlash, leading to a swift change in pre-tournament plans, opting to prepare in Kumasi instead.

Namibia, currently in Ghana for their own AFCON preparations, will test their strength against the Black Stars in this friendly encounter.

Ghana, placed in Group B alongside Cape Verde, Egypt, and Mozambique, aims to secure success in the AFCON, having won the title four times, with the last victory in 1982.

However, they faced setbacks in three finals, including losses to Ivory Coast in 1992 on penalties and Egypt in 2010, along with a repeat defeat to Ivory Coast in 2015.

Furthermore, Ghana coach Chris Hughton will unveil his final 27-man squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations on Monday, January 1, 2024, during a media engagement at the Alisa Hotel.

Initially selecting a 55-man provisional squad, Hughton will narrow down the list for the upcoming tournament in Ivory Coast.
