Ghana has discovered its opponents for the first round of the 2024 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers following a draw held at the CAF headquarters in Cairo on Wednesday afternoon.
The Black Galaxies will kick off their campaign with a highly anticipated home match against neighboring Nigeria in the opening round. The CHAN competition is specifically tailored for players competing in their domestic leagues, emphasizing local talent.
Scheduled to take place from February 1 to February 28, 2025, the tournament will be hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
A total of 40 nations will participate in the qualifiers, which will unfold in two rounds to determine the final teams for the eighth edition of this prestigious tournament. The first leg of the Ghana-Nigeria matchup is set for December 20-22, 2024, while the return leg will occur from December 27-29, 2024.
The first round of qualifiers will take place during the weekend of October 25-27 and November 1-3, 2024, with the second round confirmed for December 20-22 and December 27-29, 2024.
