President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo has charged the Black Stars to fight like true warriors and make Ghana proud at the forthcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) by lifting the coveted trophy in Ivory Coast.

The first gentleman of the land made these remarks at a farewell dinner for the team on Tuesday evening in Kumasi ahead of their departure to Ivory Coast.

He appealed to the players to show an attitude and spirit of determination in their quest for a fifth AFCON trophy.

"Go all out and make us proud," he said.

"The country in collaboration with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has made all the necessary arrangements that will ensure the team performs in Ivory Coast," he added.

After a grueling preparation, the Black Stars will depart for Abidjan later today for the tournament which has been slated from January 13 to February 11.

Ghana has been housed in Group B. They will first clash with Cape Verde on January 14 at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan, then come up against Egypt at the same venue four days later and then Mozambique at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium on January 22, 2024.
