Bibiani Gold Stars chief executive Akwasi Adu has insisted his side remain firmly in the CAF Champions League contest despite their 2-0 home defeat to JS Kabylie.
The Miners face an arduous task in Algeria this weekend, needing to overturn a two-goal deficit to stand any chance of progression. Yet Adu, speaking after the club received a donation from Peeva Beverages ahead of the trip, remained bullish about the team’s prospects.
“We are equally mapping out our plans and strategies to get them [Gold Stars players] on their toes when we get to Kabylie,” he told Citi Sports.

Refusing to dwell on the disappointment in Accra, Adu struck a defiant tone: “We are not perturbed by the results that happened the last time. It’s still football. A club has come to score 2-0 at our home, we can equally turn around the results.”
The stage is set for a fiery second leg on Sunday, September 28, with Gold Stars chasing what would be a famous continental comeback.
