Nigeria fell to the sword at the Marrakesh Stadium in Morocco on Tuesday night after losing 2-0 to hand interim gaffer Finidi George his first loss.
The Eagles drew first blood through El Bilal Touré in the 18th minute before Kamory Doumbia struck the winning goal for Mali in the 84th minute.
After Jose Peseiro’s contract expired, which he refused to extend, this was George Finidi’s first defeat in charge of the runners-up in the 2023 African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
On Friday, Finidi's first match as interim trainer of the Super Eagles ended in a victory over the Ghana Black Stars in an international friendly.
Otto Addo, the head coach of the Black Stars, believes they were unlucky to play against the Super Eagles after his team lost 2-1 to Nigeria.
