Nigeria head coach Éric Sékou Chellé has lamented his side’s costly mistakes following their elimination from the African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Tanzania.

The Super Eagles were beaten by coach Kwesi Appiah's Sudan in their second straight defeat of the tournament, a result Sékou attributed to repeated lapses at the back.

“We made four mistakes, and we conceded four goals… Look at the goals we conceded… It’s difficult,” he said. “We have made a lot of mistakes in these two games.”

Nigeria had entered the competition with high hopes but struggled for cohesion, with unforced errors and lapses in concentration undermining their campaign.

Chellé said the focus must now be on instilling discipline and regaining concentration to avoid a repeat of such performances following a brutal elimination from the competition at the hands of Sudan
