Senior Communication Manager of the Ghana Football Association, Patrick Akoto has been named Assistant General Coordinator for the WAFU-B U-17 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying tournament in Burkina Faso.

The competition will be held in Ouagadougou from October 10 to 23, 2026, with Akoto set to support the organisation and smooth running of the tournament.

In his role, Akoto will work with the WAFU-B Secretariat and the Local Organising Committee on key operational duties, including logistics, match coordination and media activities. He will also help facilitate arrangements for participating teams and officials.

He is one of five Ghanaian officials appointed for the competition. Alex Kortey has been named as a member of the commission and assessor, while Emmanuel Kpeh will oversee information technology during the tournament.

The other appointments see Selom Yao Bless selected as a referee and Seth Abletor named as an assistant referee, giving Ghana representation across several areas of the competition’s organisation and officiating.
