Former Egypt captain, Ahmed Elmohamady has blasted head coach of the Pharaohs Rui Vitoria, saying the Portuguese lack the pre-requisite experience to coach the team.

The Pharaohs were left off the hook after posting a spirited second-half performance which saw them coming from behind to hold Ghana to a 2-2 draw in their second Group B game.

Black Stars starboy Mohammed Kudus fired from distance to give Ghana the lead at the stroke of half-time before Omar Marmoush restored parity after recess.

Two minutes later, a defensive lapses allowed Kudus to complete his brace and notched Ghana’s second but Mostafa Mohamed struck the leveller for the Pharaohs late in the game.

Speaking after the game, Elmohamady said: “Rui Vitoria lacks experience in coaching national teams.

“He experimented in the Mozambique match and today’s match(against Ghana). The Egyptian national team is not a field for experiments.

“Vitoria respected Ghana more than necessary; they should have been pressed from the start. When the team pressed in the second half, we scored two goals.

“Not starting Trezeguet was a mistake; he is the second-best player in the Egyptian national team. He was the secret to Egypt’s uprising in the 68th minute, giving his utmost for the team. His substitution was late.

“This is the players’ job, not the coach’s job. The players felt the danger of being eliminated from the tournament and performed well.

“Vitoria showed that he is a coach with little experience in coaching national teams, and the Egyptian national team is a big team.”
