The World football governing body, FIFA has imposed a six-month suspension on the President of the Cameroonian Football Federation, Samuel Eto'o after being found guilty of gross misconduct.
The former FC Barcelona and Inter Milan star was slapped with the ban by the FIFA Disciplinary Committee for breaching the FIFA codes and ethics during the recently ended FIFA U20 Women's World Cup in Columbia.
This ban, announced on September 30, 2024, comes in response to Eto’o’s breach of FIFA’s Disciplinary Code, specifically articles 13 and 14, which deal with offensive behavior and misconduct by players and officials.
The incident that led to this sanction happened during the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup round of 16 match between Brazil and Cameroon, on September 11, 2024.
The ban prevents Eto’o from attending any matches involving FECAFOOT teams, including men’s and women’s teams across all age categories.
His absence from the stands for the next six months will undoubtedly have an impact on the leadership of FECAFOOT during this period.
