A long-standing club record set by Samuel Eto'o at RCD Mallorca has finally been broken after more than two decades.
The new record was set by Vedat Muriqi, who scored twice against Rayo Vallecano on Matchday 31 to reach 55 La Liga goals for the club.
This means the Kosovan striker has now moved ahead of Eto’o’s long-standing record, ending a 22-year stay at the top of Mallorca’s scoring list.
Eto’o, one of Africa’s best strikers, first joined Mallorca on loan from Real Madrid in 2000.

He impressed quickly and later became a permanent player for the club after strong performances.
During his time at Mallorca, Eto’o scored 64 goals in all competitions, including 54 in La Liga, before later becoming a global star with FC Barcelona and Inter Milan.
His record lasted for over 20 years until Muriqi’s recent double changed Mallorca’s history.
The achievement marks a new era for the Los Bermellones, although Eto’o is still remembered as one of their greatest strikers.
