Bafana Bafana midfielder, Sphephelo Sithole is currently a hot prospect in the transfer market, his agent Thomas has confirmed there's a deal from an Italian Serie A club.
The 24-year-ol's agent is bent on securing a move for Sithole but his club Tondela are demanding a hefty amount for their star player.
“Of course, we want to transfer him,” said Tomas, “but the club wants €3 million (R62 million), but in the second league it is very difficult [to get that kind of offer].”
The player’s age and strong AFCON 2023 performances highlight the need to seize potential transfer opportunities.
“He’s 24 and all the people in Africa or the world know there is a good midfielder in the second league in Portugal,” Tomas stressed.
His agent went ahead to state that he's working hard to secure a move: “He will move at the end of the season.”
If a summer transfer falls through, Tomas indicated Sithole may wait out his contract with Portuguese club Tondela: “If it doesn’t happen, Yaya can stay another year in the league and wait for his contract to expire at the end of next season but he will move, for sure.”
Despite potential hurdles, Sithole’s agent remains optimistic about a high-profile move. “I have my contacts in Portugal…they know a player like him can’t play in the second division. It is better not to talk about it but there is a proposal in the Serie A,” revealed Tomas.
