South African giants Kaizer Chiefs are eyeing a move for Ghana international Jonathan Sowah as they prepare to bolster their squad ahead of the 2025/26 season, according to a report by AfricaSoccer.com.

Sowah, who currently plays for Singida Black Stars in Tanzania, is on the radar of the Soweto-based club as they seek to rebuild following an inconsistent campaign.

The 26-year-old striker made a high-profile switch from Ghana Premier League champions Medeama SC to Al-Nassr Benghazi in Libya last year before joining Singida in January 2025. Though his stint in Tanzania has seen modest returns, Sowah remains a priority target for Chiefs due to his proven track record and international experience.

Sources indicate that Sowah is one of five marquee signings being considered by the club ahead of the summer window. The shortlist also includes Nigerian midfielder Kingsley Michael, Burkinabé forward Djibril Ouattara, Congolese striker Fiston Mayele of Pyramids FC, and Kibu Denis from Simba SC.

Sowah’s performances during Medeama’s title-winning 2022/23 season in Ghana were crucial, with the energetic forward netting several key goals and earning a call-up to the Black Stars, where he has since made three senior appearances.

Kaizer Chiefs are expected to step up their pursuit in the coming weeks as they look to add firepower to their attack and mount a stronger challenge next season.
