The high-rated teenage sensation of Cameroonian heritage has appended his signature to fresh terms over extension with the Lions, with his new deal set to take him through to 2031 at the Estadio San Mamés

La Liga outfit Athletic Club have announced a five-year contract extension with Spain-born Cameroonian wonderkid Christian Imga ahead of the January transfer window.

The 17-year-old budding winger, who has passed through the academy system of the Basque club to the first-team, has enjoyed a remarkable meteoric rise with his dazzling talent, with such a magnificent potential now earning him a long-term contract at the his boyhood club.

A statement confirming the contract renewal of the Cameroon-prospect winger from the club's official website read: ''Christian Imga has signed a new deal with Athletic Club which will keep him in Bilbao until 30 June 2031. The agreement also includes an optional extension clause for Athletic. The 17-year-old forward made his senior debut this season and scored his first goal as a Lion in our Copa first-round match against AE Prat.

''Imga, who has been called up to the Spanish Under-17 squad for the World Cup in Qatar, has made tremendous progress since arriving to Lezama from Deportivo Alavés in the 2024/25 campaign. Last season, he scored eight goals in 24 league appearances for our Under-18s, whilst he also featured in all six UEFA Youth League matches, netting twice.

''The winger is currently dividing his time between Bilbao Athletic – where he has already opened his goalscoring account – and first team. Edin Terzić named Christian in a senior matchday squad for the first time for our abandoned match against Rayo Vallecano at Vallecas, before handing the youngster a debut in our 4-0 victory over Getafe CF at San Mames.''

Given his Cameroonian descent, the Zumárraga-born native remains eligible to switch international allegiances from Spain to Cameroon by representing the lndomitable Lions at the senior level in the not too distant future despite playing for the Spain U17 & U18 national youth teams so far in his international football career.
