Ghanaian sensation Abdul Aziz Issah has been nominated for the 2024 CAF men's young player of the year award following his explosive performances last season.

The 18-year-old, who is joined FC Barcelona on the summer transfer window deadline day, was a standout performer in Dreams FC's debut campaign in the CAF Confederation Cup.

The Ghana U20 star netted four goals and provided two assists in 10 games, helping Dreams FC reach a historic semi-final berth in the competition.

He also helped the Black Satellites of Ghana team to clinch the 2023 African Games Gold medal in the men's football competition.

Aziz Issah has been with the FC Barcelona B team since joining them from Dreams FC and awaiting to make his debut for the Spanish club.

He was also recognized by CAF as one of the continent's top young players after finishing as the leading scorer in last season’s CAF Confederation Cup. 

Aziz Issah has received two nominations–Young Player of the Year and Inter-Club Player of the Year–in the 2024 CAF Awards schedule to take place in Morocco on December 16.

2024 CAF Awards to be held in Marrakech, Morocco  

This year’s awards recognize achievements from September 2023 to June 2024, culminating in the titles of CAF African Player of the Year for both women and men.

 

The African Football Confederation (CAF) announced today that the CAF Awards ceremony will take place in Marrakech, Morocco, on December 16.  

 

This marks the third consecutive year that the North African nation will host the event, following successful editions in 2022 at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Maâmora and 2023 at the Palais des Congrès in Marrakech.

 

The CAF Awards, often referred to as the African Ballon d’Or, have been celebrating the finest talents in African football since 2000. 

 

The ceremony features multiple categories, including African Player of the Year, African Women’s Player of the Year, Youth Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, and Club of the Year. 

 

The reigning African Footballer of the Year is Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen in the men’s category, while his compatriot Asisat Oshoala holds the title in the women’s category. 

 

Nominees in all categories will be announced on CAF social media platforms.
