Ghanaian defender Ibrahim Imoro, who plays for Al-Hilal, underwent a scan after sustaining an injury during the team's CAF Champions League encounter against Mamelodi Sundowns at the Al Hilal Stadium.
Imoro was forced to leave the field in the 33rd minute and was replaced by Faris Abdalla.
In a statement released on Saturday night, Al-Hilal confirmed that Imoro and Mowaffaq Siddique underwent medical examinations to determine the extent of their injuries sustained in the Sundowns match. The Sudanese side failed to win at home against the South African team, as the Match-Day Five match ended 1-1.
Despite being awarded a stoppage-time penalty, Al-Hilal's Ethar El Tahir failed to convert, and Sundowns, who have 11 points in 5 games, have already qualified for the quarter-finals.
Meanwhile, Al-Hilal, who have 10 points in 5 games, defeated Al Ahly 1-0 in Omdurman, and they know they must avoid a big defeat in Cairo on March 31st to qualify for the quarter-finals, as the head-to-head rule applies in terms of the tie-breaking criteria of the group stages of the Champions League.
