Alexander Djiku on cloud nine after his side Fenerbahce made it to the round of 16 of the UEFA Europa Conference League after an emphatic 4-0 home win over Slovak giants Spartak Tirnava to wrap up the group stage.
The 29-year-old Ghanaian defender has been out of competitive action for sometime now due to injury but returned over the weekend and played a huge part in picking a vital win in the Istanbul derby.
Once again, Djiku made the starting berth last Thursday night at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium and went on to last the entire duration of the game with another majestic performance at the back.
Ferdi Kadioglu opened the scoring account for the homesters, coupled with a brace from ex- Manchester City and AS Roma forward Edin Dzeko and an own goal from Dominik Takac.
The Yellow Canaries finished the first round as winners of Group H with 12 points, ahead of Ludogorets Razgrad, FC Norsdjaelland and Spartak Tirnava.
Reacting to their qualification, the former Strasbourg captain, reiterated how excited he is and once again thanked their teeming fans for their continuous unending support everytime.

Fenerbahce will get to know of their opponent in the round of 16 on Monday, December 18, 2023.
Alexander Djiku is expected to make the Black Stars squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations which is slated for early year in Cote D'Ivoire.
