Antoine Semenyo came off the Bristol bench to score the winning goal as Nigel Pearson's lads edged past Wycombe Wanderers to reach the Carabao Cup third round at Adams Park on Wednesday night.
The Ghanaian slotted home from Tommy Conway's pass on a swift counter to put the result beyond doubt as League One outfit Wycombe pushed for a second equaliser to force the game to penalties which later on proved futile.
English midfielder Dylan Kadji scored on his Bristol City debut as the Championship side dazzled to the next round.
Kadji, 18, rattled home from close range in the 7th minute but was cancelled by Ali Al-Hamadi leveller with his first Wycombe goal as he headed home Anis Mehmeti's deep cross right in the 50th minute.
Kane Wilson netted the second goal as he steered in Naismith's cross to put Bristol back ahead before Semenyo settled it.
Bristol flipped-bounced Coventry in the first round with a convincing 4-1 victory and they've taken that result into the league with back-to-backs wins and clean sheets.
Semenyo is reported to be attracting several Premier League clubs including Crystal Palace and Bournemouth with his explosive perfomance.
