German Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen will not pursue any potential permanent deal for Chelsea loanee Callum Hudson-Odoi after a disappointing season in Bundesliga, according to Sky Germany.

Hudson-Odoi, who was widely regarded as one of the most promising Chelsea talents, has made just 20 appearances (13 starts) for Leverkusen since joining the Bundesliga side on loan last summer.

He has only featured in five matches so far in 2023 and did not play more than 45 minutes in any of them.

Leverkusen managing director Simon Rolfes already explained the problem.

“He has to show consistency, go into dangerous areas, and become a goal threat himself,” the Leverkusen chief told Kicker last week.

“He has to show a lot more presence there.

“He can do a lot more. He has the technical qualities to do it.”

Having only registered one goal and one assist in all competitions this season, Hudson-Odoi has understandably failed to impress.

There is no buy option in the loan agreement between Chelsea and Leverkusen, so the 22-year-old was always expected to return to Stamford Bridge.

But Sky Germany adds that the German club do not have any plan to negotiate a possible permanent deal, unsurprisingly.

Unfortunately for Hudson-Odoi, a future at Chelsea is not something he should be looking forward to as well.

The winger recently admitted that he had rarely been in contact with Chelsea during his loan spell and was clearly unsure about his future at the club.

As Chelsea continue to bring in more and more attackers to their ranks, it is safe to say Hudson-Odoi is closer to leaving Stamford Bridge than a return.
