Edmund Addo is a natural midfielder but he's switched to the centre-back position and he's looked impressive.
The FK Radnički Niš player was recently deployed in defence by coach Otto Addo against Nigeria and Uganda during the March international friendlies.
Addo was outstanding in both matches as he dished-out well laid passes.
"The coaches prepared me physically and mentally well to adjust to the new role. This boosted my confidence and I think I had a good performance in both games but there is still room for improvement," Addo told reporters.
Although a disappointing 2-1 loss against Nigeria followed by a 2-2 draw against Uganda, the defence clicked perfectly.
Addo deserves huge credit for seamlessly adapting to his new position like a duck to water. However, It's understood he'd never played in that role while donning the Ghana jersey.
His return back to the national team is a major boost for him as he missed out on selection for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
