The versatile enforcer is currently testing his mettle with the Austrian top-flight outfit in a bid to secure a deal as a free agent

Dutch-born Ghanaian midfielder Denzel Owusu is undergoing trials at Austrian Bundesliga side SK Austria Klagenfurt.

The 21-year-old remains unattached since severing ties with his Dutch boyhood club Feyenoord Rotterdam in 2022.

Club's sporting director Günther Gorenzel has confirmed the Ghana-prospect stopper is currently under their microscope as they look forward to handling him a contract should he excels at the end of his assessment sessions.

"Denzel is a very interesting guy who was one of the top talents in Holland when he was young, but then had bad luck. A planned move to Italy fell through, his contract with Feyenoord was not renewed and he suddenly found himself without a club. We are now giving him the opportunity to present himself. If it works out in sporting terms, we will see if we can find a financial basis that makes sense for both sides," he told his club's official website.

Owusu, once a target for Italian giants AC Milan, will hope to land himself a contract with the Klagenfurt-based club when his trial period is over in the coming days.

Given his Ghanaian heritage, he still remains eligible to play for Ghana at the international level despite representing the Netherlands national youth teams.
