The evergreen sensation starlet of Ghanaian heritage scooped the double accolades following his remarkable performances with the Young Oranje in the just-ended international Youth Championship in Turkey
Dutch-born Ghanaian wonderkid Donovan Afrifa has won the Best Defender and the Most Valuable Player awards at the 2026 Football Federations Cup U16 with the Netherlands.

The 15-year-old centre-back, currently on the books of Dutch Eredivisie outfit FC Utrecht, was splendid with his five-star performances after marshalling the heart of defence for his side throughout the tournament.
Following his instrumental role for the Netherlands' U16 national youth team during the contest, the Ghana-prospect defender has now been bestowed with the individual coveted accolades after guiding the Young Oranje to finish as runners-up to Ukraine U16 at the end of the Championship.

Given his Ghanaian heritage, the Almere-born native could become a cornerstone in the heart of defence for the Ghana national football team should the Ghana FA put in much efforts to secure his allegiances from the Netherlands to Ghana in the near future despite playing for the Netherlands U15 & u16 national youth teams so far in his international football career.
