Dutch-Ghanaian forward Deabeas Owusu-Sekyere came off the bench to inspire Zhejiang Professional to a 2-0 victory over Qingdao West Coast in the Chinese Super League on Saturday.
The 24-year-old was introduced in the 40th minute to replace Alexandru Mitriță, and his impact was immediate, injecting pace and energy into Zhejiang’s attack.
After a tight first half, Owusu-Sekyere broke the deadlock in the 65th minute. Cutting into the box with confidence, he rifled a powerful left-footed strike into the top corner, sending the visiting fans into jubilation.
Qingdao, who enjoyed 53% possession, pressed forward in search of an equalizer but rarely threatened Zhejiang’s well-organized defense. The visitors wrapped up the win in stoppage time when Tao Qianglong finished off a quick counterattack.
The result not only lifts Zhejiang’s spirits but also gives them valuable momentum ahead of their upcoming clash with Changchun Yatai on September 20.
