Crystal Palace forward, Eddie Nketiah, has expressed strong interest in playing for Ghana all of sudden after getting series of snubs from the English national team
Born in Greater London, precisely Lewisham, and with a Ghanaian parentage, Nketiah is still eligible to play for Ghana despite representing his country of birth - England at all international levels.
The 25-year-old finally earned senior English national team invite in 2023 for games against Scotland and Ukraine but couldn't make the match-day squad and has since not been considered again.
On the other hand, the Ghana FA has made series of attempts to get the former Arsenal star but to no avail having turned down the opportunity on several occasions.
In a recent interview on The Beautiful Game podcast, the enterprising striker has surprisingly disclosed that he now feels Ghanaian and will be ready to play for the Black Stars if he gets a call-up from henceforth
“When I was younger, playing for England made sense after coming through the youth ranks. But if Ghana call me up, I’ll be there.”
Eddie Nketiah has struggled to earn playing at the Selhurst Park recently and has just a goal and assist in 25 matches.
