Ghana international Emmanuel Boateng scored to propel Rio Ave to a slim win over Santa Clara in the Portuguese top-tier league on Sunday.
Boateng opened the score for the Green and White lads with a fine strike on 15th minute, which later became the only goal to hand Rio Ave all the needed points.
The 26-year-old was substituted eleven minutes into the second half of the match with Portuguese youngster Fabio Ronaldo as his replacement.
Ghanaian forward Abdul-Aziz Yakubu who had scored five goals in his last five games before this match also featured the entire duration for Rio Ave.
Ghana-born Togo international Kennedy Boateng who played for Santa Clara in this fixture was sent off in the 66th minute.
Boateng has now scored two goals in five matches since his return to Rio Ave from Chinese side Dalian Yifang this summer.
