Chelsea see Bournemouth striker Antoine Semenyo as the 'star name' to continue with their project under Enzo Maresca, according to former Red Devils and Blackburn scout Mick Brown - though the recruitment guru used to be skeptical about his ability to perform at Premier League level.

Brown commented, “It doesn’t shock me to hear Chelsea are interested in him. I have to say about Semenyo, I always had doubts about his ability to perform at Premier League level. But the lad is one of the most improved players in the country this season. His assets of strength, running power, shooting and movement have been brought to light at Bournemouth.”

Semenyo, who joined Bournemouth from Bristol City in January 2023, has been instrumental in the Cherries’ campaign this season.

His dynamic performances on the wing have caught the attention of several top clubs, with Chelsea reportedly leading the chase for his signature.

Chelsea’s interest in Semenyo coheres with their vision and strategy to bolster their attacking options. The Blues have been monitoring emerging talents across the league, and Semenyo’s recent form makes him a prime target.

Bournemouth is certain to strive for retaining their star winger, but a substantial offer from a club of Chelsea’s stature could be tempting.

Semenyo's potential move to Chelsea would be a key turning point in his career and could give the Blues the attacking dexterity they seek.
