Italian Serie A newcomers U.S. Cremonese are in pole position of signing AS Roma youngster Felix Afena-Gyan in the ongoing summer transfer window.
The 19-year-old, who signed a four-year contract extension with AS Roma last month is on his way out of the Stadio Olimpico outfit due to limited playing time under Jose Mourinho.
AS Roma General Manager, Tiago Pinto has arrived in Milan with Afena-Gyan's agent and club representatives including with Salernitana and Cremonese – both teams are interested in the 19-year-old forward and are reportedly willing to sign him on a permanent basis.
According to Italian newspaper Tuttosport, Cremonese are currently leading the race after having advanced a more convincing offer than Salernitana’s.

Afena-Gyan is rated among the best youngsters in European football following his exploits at AS Roma after bagging a debut brace against Genoa in November 2021.
He made 20 appearances for AS Roma in all competitions last season with two goals to his credit, since his promotion to the senior team in October 2021.
Afena-Gyan scored his debut goal for the Black Stars of Ghana against Madagascar in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. He played an instrumental role in Ghana's qualification to the 2022 FIFA World Cup
