The talented defensive midfielder has been acquired by the Estadio do Dragao outfit from Ghana-based Rising Stars of Africa Academy.
Portuguese top-tier club FC Porto has announced the signing of Ghanaian young midfielder Dennis Konney on a long-term contract in the ongoing winter transfer window.
The 18-year-old was described as one of the highly rated midfielders in the Ghanaian second-tier league following his explosive performances at Rising Stars of Africa Academy.
Konney was scouted by FC Porto scouts last year, and he had to turn 18 years old in December 2024 before leaving the shores of Ghana to finalize his switch to FC Porto.
The club's official statement reads: “Dennis Konney is the newest addition to FC Porto's Under-19 team and is another option for coach Sérgio Ferreira in attack in the second half of the season.”

“In his home country, the 18-year-old Ghanaian midfielder progressed through the Rising Stars of Africa Academy, based in Accra, the capital of Ghana, before heading to Invicta for what will be the first international experience of his career.”
He has been drafted into FC Porto B, led by Sergio Ferreira, as part of Konney's developmental process to become a great footballer in Europe.
The next Sergio Busquets in world football is Dennis Konney
Konney, in an interview with FC Porto after sealing the sensational move, said his style of play is likened to FC Barcelona's legendary defensive midfielder Sergio Busquets and looks forward to living up to the billing at the Portuguese top-flight league heavyweights as he climbs his football career ladder.
“I'm very happy to be at FC Porto. I’m a midfielder, a defensive midfielder similar to Sergio Busquets,” Konney told the club's official website.

He also added that he contributes to the team's goal-scoring, and wearing the FC Porto shirt is a dream come true after being scouted by the club.
“My biggest dream is to be able to play at Estádio do Dragão. I want to help the club win more trophies,” he concluded.
Konney is yet to play for Ghana at any level.
