Former Hearts of Oak gem Salifu Ibrahim, affectionately nicknamed “Di Maria”, is set for a sensational international rebirth, this time in the colours of Benin.
The talented playmaker, once the creative heartbeat of the Phobians, has officially completed the process to switch nationality from Ghana to Benin, paving the way for a stunning debut for the Squirrels.
According to reports, Benin head coach Gernot Rohr has been closely monitoring the midfielder’s progress and is poised to hand him his first international call-up in the next squad announcement as he looks to strengthen his midfield.

Currently lighting up the Kosovo Super League with Drita FC, Salifu has been in superb form this season, showcasing the same skills that once made him a fan favourite in the Ghana Premier League.
His performances have not gone unnoticed, with Benin’s football authorities said to have fast-tracked his nationality switch to bring him on board ahead of the upcoming international window.
If all goes as planned, the midfielder could make his debut for Benin in their next international fixtures, beginning a new chapter.
