The 23-year-old enforcer of Ghanaian descent has reportedly severed ties with the relegated French top-flight outfit , with several suitors across Europe now circling around his services this term

Ghanaian midfielder Pierre Ekwah has reportedly annulled his contract with Ligue 2 side AS Saint-Étienne after sealing a permanent deal from Premier League side Sunderland this summer.

With several clubs across Europe currently vying for his signature, the ex-Chelsea U18 star could now team up with any of those suitors as a free agent after parting company with his employers on transfer deadline day.

Per French tabloid L'Equipe, the Ghanaian midfielder unilaterally terminated his deal with The Greens as he wanted a move way from those in charge of the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard following their demotion last season.

lt is understood that AS Saint-Étienne rejected several bids from interested clubs for the services of the Ghana-prospect enforcer during the summer transfer window.

Pierre Ekwah is still eligible to switch allegiance and play for Ghana at the international level despite featuring for the French U-16 & U-20 national youth teams. He is of Ghanaian and Cameroonian parentage.
