The German third tier outfit have secured the services of the 22-year-old stopper of Ghanaian origin in the ongoing transfer window
German-born centre-back Maxwell Gyamfi has joined Bundesliga 3 side VfL Osnabruck ahead of the 2022-23 football league season, the club have announced.
The former Schalke 04 youth man joins the Osnabruck-based club on a free transfer following the expiration of his deal with Hamburger SV ll in the just ended campaign.
Sporting director Amir Shapourzadeh spoke highly of the 22-year-old defender having put his performance under the microscope during his trial sessions weeks ago.
"We have looked very closely at Maxwell Gyamfi's sporting career. In the first week of training, our head coach Daniel Scherning and I had the opportunity to get a direct picture of him and to get to know each other. Maxwell absolutely convinced us in terms of sport and character and, despite his previous status as a tryout player, he fitted in perfectly with the team,” Amir Shapourzadeh explains to his club's communications network.
"Maxwell is a highly talented and well-trained defender who, with his athleticism and tackling skills, offers us further options, especially in central defence," he added.
Gyamfi featured in 18 league games for Hamburger SV ll during the Regionalliga Nord 21/22 season.
The Dortmund-born guardsman could still switch allegiance to represent Ghana at the international level as he is yet to be capped by Germany national team.
