The stalwart guardsman has ended his 12-year stay at the Volkspark Stadion outfit.

Ghana defender Stephan Ambrosius has officially left German Bundesliga II side Hamburg SV following the expiry of his contract at the club.

The 25-year-old, who rose through the ranks of Hamburg SV, confirmed his departure from the Hamburg-based club after their final game of the 2023/24 season's campaign

The club confirmed the exit of three players including Stephan Ambrosius in a statement that reads: “It was a particularly emotional moment for HSV academy product Stephan Kofi Ambrosius. Raised in the Hamburg quarter of Wilhelmsburg, he has been at the club since the age of 13.”

“Ambrosius spent time in the Rothosen’s academy between 2012 and 2017 before making the jump to the first team. The centre-back impressed with his uncompromising tackles and made his Bundesliga debut on 31st March 2018.”

Despite series of injuries, Ambrosius managed to make 49 appearances for the Hamburg SV first team.
