Having been simultaneously invited by the two west African nations for the upcoming friendly matches this month, the four-time African champions have said the 25-year-old has pledged his international allegiance to them at the expense of their continental rivals
Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council Member Frederick Acheampong has affirmed that French-born defender Marvin Senaya has chosen to represent Ghana over Togo at the senior national team level as he looks set to making his maiden appearance with the Black Stars in their friendly games against Austria and Germany later this month.
The enigmatic right-back, who was initially named by Togo manager Patrice Neveu in his squad to face Guinea and Niger for this month's friendlies, has decided to ditch the Sparrowhawks in favour of the west African powerhouse after being named in their 26-man squad to face the two European nations.
Speaking on his dual call-up, the GFA Exco Member said the AJ Auxerre defender was full of excitement over the Ghana call-up as being revealed by his compatriots team-mates Gideon Mensah and Elisha Owusu at the club level given his eagerness to don the colours of the Black Stars on the international stage.
The soft-spoken football administrator said on Kumasi-based radio station Kessben FM: ''Marvin Senaya is extremely after earning a call-up to the Black Stars. He embraces the moment with great excitement. His Auxerre teammates, Gideon Mensah and Elisha Owusu, have spoken of his delight and pride at the opportunity to represent Ghana on the international stage. Despite previously being named in Togo’s squad, Senaya has committed his future to Ghana.''
Marvin was born to a Ghanaian mother and a Togolese father in France, making him eligible to represent both countries at the international level.
Ghana will first square off against Austria on March 27 at the Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna before they head to the MHP Arena in Stuttgart to lock horns with Germany on March 30 as part of the 2026 World Cup preparatory matches.
