Jeffery Schlupp, the Ghanaian international, fondly recalls Crystal Palace's remarkable victory against Manchester City during the 2022/23 season as his standout moment for the club.
In December 2022, Schlupp left his mark on the scoresheet as Palace secured a thrilling 3-2 triumph over Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
Reflecting on this memorable match, Schlupp shared his thoughts with Crystal Palace's media, saying, “There have been some great moments. Those night games against Arsenal at home, they were special."
He continued, emphasizing the significance of the victory over Manchester City, stating, "But Manchester City, obviously. Everyone only talks about Andros [Townsend’s] goal – I happen to have scored a goal in that game! It was a massive win, 3-2 away from home."
Despite his own contribution, Schlupp graciously acknowledged Townsend's stunning goal in the same match.
He recalled, “It was a good goal as well! But when Andros does that, I can’t blame him."
Schlupp admitted that facing top teams like Manchester City is always challenging, but highlighted Palace's strong record against them.
He explained, “Our record is reasonably good, but it’s never been easy. We’ve gone there and got some good results, but to get good results you need to have luck on your side."
Acknowledging the team's resilience, Schlupp added, “We came back from 2-0 down in December and we could have won it in the end."
Despite the challenges, Schlupp has remained a key contributor to Palace's success this season, tallying two goals and three assists in 31 games across various competitions.
