German-born Ghanaian international, Christopher Antwi-Adjei scored as VFL Bochum waxed Augsburg 3-2 in a nerve-jangling clash to boost their survival hopes at the Vonovia Ruhrstadion on Saturday.
The 29-year-old forward started the game on the left wing and struck the opener in the 2nd minute for the Undescendables to expose the defensive frailties of Augsburg.
A Arne Carl Maier equaliser gave Augsburg a renewed hope in the 29th minute but Jeffrey Gouweleeuw own goal restored Bochum's two-goal lead in the 59th minute.
French midfielder Anthony Losilla ratcheted up the pressure by scoring Bochum's third goal of the day.
Antwi-Adjei's Ghanaian compatriot, Kelvin Yeboah pulled one back after climbing off the bench in the 78th minute.
Bochum held out for the three points that lifted them out of the relegation zone to 15th with 31 points from 32 games.
