The German lower division side have announced the loan signing of the 25-year-old lateral defender of Ghanaian descent in the ongoing transfer window
German-born Ghanaian right-back Johannes Dorfler has completed his season-long loan deal with Bundesliga 3 side SV Waldhof Mannheim from SC Paderborn 07 this summer.
The former Borussia Mönchengladbach youth product is joining the Carl-Benz Stadion outfit for a more playing time as he is not in the plans of manager Lukas Kwasniok ahead of the 2022/23 football league campaign.
Right after inking his deal with the Mannheim-based club, the full-back said "it's now up to him to give it all at training sessions in order to fight for more playing time" come next term.
"I'm very grateful for the chance to take my next step here at SV Waldhof Mannheim. I got a good feeling from the talks with those responsible, which is why I'm now happy to be able to accept the task at SVW. It's now up to me to give it my all in the training sessions in order to fight for my playing time here," Dörfler told the club's official website
Sporting director Tim Schork expressed his delight at signing the 25-year-old stopper and was full of appreciation for his mother club over their kind gesture for his release.
"our radar for the past few weeks. He brings many attributes that we were looking for at right-back. He is an athletic player who can always set accents on the offensive. We are very happy that Johannes can now help us to achieve our goals in the 3rd division. We would like to thank SC Paderborn for the uncomplicated realization of the loan,” Tim Schork added to his outfit communications network.
Dorfler will have his existing contract with SC Paderborn 07 expired in June 2024 and his current market value is being pegged at €300,000 as per transfermarkt valuation.
Born in Dusseldorf, he could still switch allegiance to represent Ghana at the international level as he is yet to be capped by the Germany
national team.
