Ghana striker Prince Kwabena Adu was on target as Viktoria Plzen secured a 3-2 victory over FC Zlin in the fourth round of the Czech First League at the Stadion Mesta Plzne on Saturday evening.
Viktoria Plzen took an early lead in the sixth minute when Ondrej Kukučka turned the ball into his own net to put the hosts ahead.
Christophe Kabongo doubled the advantage for the six-time Czech champions before Kwabena Adu added his name to the scoresheet to make it 3-0 as the home side looked in control.
Zlin, however, responded with two goals to reduce the deficit, with Stanislav Petruta scoring for the visitors after being assisted by Ghanaian international Frank Appiah.
Appiah also found the back of the net to complete Zlin’s response, while another Ghanaian, Cletus Nombil, featured for the visitors during the contest.
Viktoria Plzen managed to hold on to their advantage despite the late pressure from Zlin, with Adu’s contribution proving important in their victory.
The result gives Adu another positive outing as he continues his campaign with Viktoria Plzen, while the Ghanaian forward will hope to build on his goalscoring form in the Czech First League.
