The defender of Ghanaian heritage is currently enjoying his loan spell with the German top-flight campaigners and is eager to stay permanently at the end of his loan deal

Ghana-target Derrick Köhn has expressed his strong desire to stay with Bundesliga side Werder Bremen following an impressive performance so far this season.

The 25-year-old ex-Hannover 96 left-back, who joined the Weserstadion outfit from Turkish giants Galatasaray on loan during the summer, has established himself as an integral member of the German top-flight side and could see his loan deal made permanent at the end of the current campaign.

And now, following his Man-of-the-Match display coupled with two assists in their 4-1 trouncing of Union Berlin in yesterday's encounter, the Black Stars prospect defender is now eager to stay put at Werder Bremen upon the expiration of his season-long loan deal although he's yet to open talks with his temporal employers over such fresh terms.

''l feel very comfortable here in Bremen, so yes!,'' the former Bayern Munich II stopper is quoted as saying by German tabloid Bild when asked of his intention over his future with the Die Werderaner.

He added: ''I haven't spoken to anyone yet. It's too early for that. Werder still has time until the end of the season, but wants to start talks in March. For now, Bremen can be happy about the successful year 2024, which they ended with 25 points after 15 games.''

It is understood that the Bundesliga campaigners will be forking out an amount of 5 million euros in excess to land the lateral defender on a permanent basis next term.

Given his Ghanaian heritage, Derrick remains eligible to represent Ghana at the international level despite playing for the Germany U19 national youth team.
