The 32-year-old defender has parted ways with the Swedish top division outfit after spending four seasons together in the Swedish football competitions

Ghanaian centre-back Joseph Boffoe has confirmed his departure from Allsvenskan side Halmstads BK following the expiration of his contract on December 31, 2024.

The former Eintracht Braunschweig guardsman, who was expected to be handed a fresh term by the Halmstads-based club ahead of the upcoming campaign, is finally ending his four-year marriage with HBK after staging a return in 2020.

Boffoe took to his micro-blogging platform, lnstagram to announce his departure from the Swedish top-flight campaigners, stating; ''Hello club. I would like to extend a big thank you to everyone in and around HBK. All the leaders, employees and all the way to the supporters who have made this journey incredible since I made the decision to move back to Sweden.''

He added: ''I came with a clear and distinct goal and that was to help HBK back to the Allsvenskan and enjoy football and the community the club stands for. When I look back, I can proudly say that I kept my word and fulfilled a big goal with your help, and that the love for the ball was rediscovered. Unfortunately, my journey ends here for now and I wish you all the best for the upcoming season and want to send a big thank you for all the memories I have been able to create and share with you.''

The ex-Helsingborgs IF stopper made over 170 appearances for Halmstads BK during his two separate spells with them in the Swedish football competitions.

The Ghanaian-born defender still remains fit to play for Ghana on the international stage having featured for the Swedish national youth teams.
