Ghanaian defender Mohammed Umar has officially signed with Romanian SuperLiga club FC Politehnica Iași on a contract that extends until 2027. 

The talented centre-back joins the Romanian side as a free agent after making significant contributions during his tenure with Finnish club Ilves, where he was recognized as a key player. Umar has already made appearances in cup competitions for FC Politehnica Iași and is expected to make his league debut in the upcoming matches.

During his time at Ilves, Umar celebrated winning the Finnish Cup and played a crucial role in leading the team into the Europa League in his final season. He also represented Ghana on the international stage, being part of the Black Satellites squad that clinched the WAFU Zone B U-20 tournament title under coach Karim Zito.

Currently, FC Politehnica Iași sits 11th in the SuperLiga standings, accumulating 17 points from 14 matches.
