Ghanaian defender Tariq Lamptey played a crucial role in Brighton & Hove Albion's remarkable victory over Manchester United in the Premier League on Saturday.
Lamptey was part of Brighton's starting lineup at Old Trafford and contributed two assists before being substituted for James Milner after 77 minutes. Despite having less possession, the away team engaged in an exciting encounter.
Brighton arrived at Old Trafford with a three-match winning streak in league head-to-heads and boosted by their upcoming European debut. The second half saw United's continued efforts, yet Brighton capitalized on their chances. Pascal Groß took advantage of Tariq Lamptey pass, deceived Lisandro Martínez, and found the net, extending his tally against the Red Devils. As United pressed forward, they were punished again as João Pedro brilliantly scored from the edge of the box, assisted by Tariq Lamptey.
While United fans left Old Trafford after falling three goals behind, Hannibal Mejbri later scored a consolation goal with an impressive long-range shot. However, it couldn't spark a comeback, and Manchester United endured their third defeat in five league games. In contrast, Brighton's stunning performance elevated them into the top three in the league standings.
