Ghanaian winger Ibrahim Sadiq opened his scoring account for the 2025/26 Eredivisie season over the weekend, finding the net in AZ Alkmaar’s 2-2 draw away to Volendam.
Handed a starting role in the absence of Ernest Poku, who recently completed a move to Bayer Leverkusen, Sadiq seized the opportunity to make his mark.
Volendam struck first after just seven minutes through Aurelio Oehlers, but Sadiq restored parity for AZ before the break with a well-taken effort — his first league goal of the campaign.
The visitors started the second half strongly and went ahead through Troy Parrott shortly after the restart. However, their lead lasted only until the 65th minute, when the home side equalised to make it 2-2.
Despite pushing for a winner, AZ were forced to settle for a point, leaving them still chasing their first victory after two league matches this season.
For Sadiq, the strike marked not only his first goal involvement of the season but also a timely reminder of his attacking qualities as he looks to cement his place in the starting lineup.
