During his active playing career, former Ghana international Michael Essien considers Frank Lampard as the finest player he had the opportunity to play alongside.

Both players represented English Premier League club Chelsea, forming a formidable partnership that resulted in numerous triumphs in domestic and European competitions, including the UEFA Champions League and Super Cup.

In an interview with Goal Africa, Essien, also known as "the Bison," explained why he selected Frank Lampard as his top teammate:

"Every one of my teammates holds a special place in my heart. It's a challenging task to choose just one. However, I would have to say Frank Lampard. It's truly remarkable to witness a midfielder consistently scoring an impressive number of goals each season."

Having excelled with French club Olympic Lyon, Michael Essien joined Chelsea in 2005. The now 40-year-old, currently working as a football manager, remained at Stamford Bridge until the 2013/14 season.
