Ghanaian midfielder Ibrahim Sulemana continues to command attention in Italy after netting a spectacular goal in Atalanta’s 3-2 comeback win over Genoa in Serie A on Saturday at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.
The 21-year-old, making just his second league start of the season, showcased his immense potential with a moment of brilliance early in the second half. With Atalanta trailing 1-0 at the break following Andrea Pinamonti’s opener for Genoa, Sulemana responded just two minutes after the restart.
Receiving a lofted pass outside the penalty area, he expertly controlled it with his chest, allowed it to bounce once, and then fired a powerful half-volley into the far bottom corner—leaving the goalkeeper with no chance and leveling the score.
Although Pinamonti restored Genoa’s lead, Atalanta fought back through late goals from Daniel Maldini and Mateo Retegui to seal all three points.
Sulemana’s latest strike comes on the heels of another match-winning performance last weekend, when he came off the bench to score the decisive goal in a 2-1 victory over AS Roma—a result that guaranteed Atalanta a place in next season’s UEFA Champions League.
With back-to-back goals in crucial fixtures, Sulemana is quickly establishing himself as a rising star in Gian Piero Gasperini’s squad and a promising asset for Ghana’s national team moving forward.
