Ghanaian midfielder Kwasi Sibo has described his emotions as “bittersweet” after featuring in Real Oviedo’s La Liga clash against Spanish giants Real Madrid on Sunday.
The 27-year-old, making only his second topflight appearance for Oviedo, produced an impressive display in midfield and came close to scoring when his strike hit the post. However, the newly-promoted side were outclassed by Los Blancos, who ran out 3-0 winners at Estadio Carlos Tartiere.
French superstar Kylian Mbappé scored twice before Brazilian forward Vinícius Júnior came off the bench to seal the win late on, leaving Oviedo still searching for their first victory of the campaign.
Sharing his feelings after the game, Sibo wrote on Instagram:
“A bittersweet feeling after so much effort during the 90 minutes. Thanks for the great atmosphere yesterday. We’ll experience our first victory together soon.”
Despite the defeat, Sibo remains optimistic about Oviedo’s chances this season. A fan favourite at the club due to his tireless performances since joining, the Ghanaian midfielder is determined to help the team secure their first win and ultimately maintain their La Liga status.
Real Oviedo will next play at the Carlos Tartiere on August 30 when they host Sevilla.
